The Polls Got WI Recall Right

According to Real Clear Politics, Scott Walker led in the polls just before the recall election earlier this year by an average of 6.7 points. He ended up winning by 6.8 percent.

Has the overall methodology gone terribly wrong in the race for the presidency? There are some solid cases to be made that it might end up that way. But polls passed the first test of the election year, so if 2008-10 methods are insufficient for 2012, they didn't show up in Wisconsin.
